British couple Helen and Leonard Prior whose Vera home was demolished 10 years ago have finally been compensated by Vera council.

They received just under €236,000 into their bank account last Friday, bringing to an end years of legal action and suffering.

Their villa, constructed just outside Vera, was ruled illegal by the Junta de Andalucía and demolished in January 2008, despite having a building licence issued by Vera council.
