Mojacar expats have featured on a UK television news program this week in a special report compiled by a Nottinghamshire reporter on the imminent British EU referendum.
Owen Shipton, a video journalist with Notts TV, wanted to find a new angle on ‘Brexit’ that would interest viewers “jaded by political broadcasts” in the UK.
He came to Mojacar after researching ex-Nottingham residents living abroad and finding an article on Mojacar councillor Jessica Simpson, whose family hails from Nottingham.
Staying in the town from Sunday to Wednesday he had a busy few days interviewing expats, visiting the Irish Rover pub, MACS cancer charity, the Royal British Legion and speaking to various individuals.
The interviews – around 20 in all – revealed no clear majority opinion for or against a British EU exit.
