Mojacar bar owner Tito del Amo has died at the age of 74 after a short battle with cancer.
More than 100 people attended a memorial service at his bar last Saturday to pay tribute to a man widely regarded as one of Mojacar’s most endearing characters.
US-born del Amo was one of the first immigrants to settle in Mojacar in the 1960s and came to embody the resort’s carefree, hippy lifestyle.
He was a dear dear person, larger than life, and a good friend. I was blessed to know him from ’69 onwards.
