The ‘Playa de los Muertos’ in Carboneras has come first in an online poll to find the best beach in Spain.
For the third year running – and the fourth in total – readers of the ’20 minutos’ paper gave top marks to the gravel beach, located on the outskirts of Carboneras, beating Las Catedrales in Lugo, Galicia, and Bolonia in Cádiz into second and third place, respectively.
A total of 111 beaches were nominated, seven fewer than last year, although it was the second most voted competition since 2006. Readers could award between one and five points to each one, and ‘Los Muertos’ amassed 28,924 votes – 2,400 more than Las Catedrales.
