A rural restaurant owner from Lubrin is organising the province’s first ever ‘Potato Festival’ this weekend after identifying the common vegetable as a potential link between Spanish and expat communities in the area.
Clayton Morley, who runs the Albar restaurant in the outlying village of El Pilar, had the idea after overhearing two farmers discussing the potato harvest and realizing how the “taken for granted ‘pobre patata’ (‘poor potato’)” was a strong part of the land and its history.
