A historic monument in Serón has been painted in lime “wiping out 350 years of history”, the town’s Partido Popular (PP) party has complained.
The PP claims the council “negligently” allowed workers to whitewash a 17th century marble cross situated in the town cemetery during maintenance works leading up to All Saints Day last Tuesday.
Serón mayor Juan Antonio Lorenzo however said he was “a bit annoyed” by the allegations of negligence because the council “had a project to clean, restore and move the monument to another location”.
