The Guardia Civil union AUGC has filed a complaint, claiming there are not enough officers in the province to cover the busy summer period.
The union claims that its members are “overloaded and stressed” with a high work-load and has highlighted several examples it says proves that the force is unable to properly serve the public.
It cited a case in Almería port, where one agent was left on duty to examine 180 vehicles being loaded onto a ferry bound for Melilla one night in late July. There is supposed to be a minimum of 10 agents on duty there.
