A man suspected of badly injuring a stray dog after setting an illegal spring-loaded trap has been charged with wildlife offences.
The incident happened last week in a field in Dalías in the neighbourhood of Camino Viejo Celín after the Guardia Civil received a call alerting them that a dog was howling in pain after getting caught in the trap.
Agents found the terrified dog with one of its front paws inside one of two large traps discovered at the scene. According to the Guardia, the dog ran away with a bad limp the moment it was freed, but the agents were unable to catch it.
