Local animal charities have rounded on the environmental police unit Seprona after it refused to investigate the death of an Alsatian that had been brutally beaten.
The body was found by two ramblers in the Sierra de Húetor last Sunday.
It had been thrown over a cliff, with its head in a sack. The two ramblers called the Guardia Civil to report the death.
However, the police response was that the removal of dead animals was up to the local council.
Indignant, the pair called the 112 emergency service, who took down all the information and informed the local police and Seprona.
