Police in Almería have captured a large tarantula found roaming inside a garden by a block of flats in the provincial capital.
The hairy arachnid was found by a doorman who alerted police. Agents contacted environmental experts from the Junta de Andalucía before transporting the spider from the garden area on Calle Canónigo Molina Alonso to a special holding facility.
The regional government later released a statement saying the tarantula had either escaped from one of the apartments where it was being kept as a pet, or from a consignment of tropical fruit.
