The Guardia Civil rescued two people who were trapped by rising waters in a Mojacar river bed during last week’s rains.
The incident happened last Thursday afternoon (October 3) when the two were travelling in a Ford Transit van along the La Granatilla river bed. The van became stuck in the mud as the water level rapidly rose.
The couple made a dash to a nearby rock and unsuccessfully tried to contact the emergency services for help. By chance, a Guardia Civil patrol who spotted the stranded van made their way down to the river bed and were able to rescue them.
