The Socialist PSOE party in Almería has slammed the state of the city’s beaches this week, describing them as a “disaster”.
It complained there are “no working showers, no walkways, no toilets and no lifeguards”, with PSOE councillor Inés Plaza saying it was “unacceptable” that the council had not carried out the necessary work in time for summer.
Despite the official season being extended to run until October 31, lifeguards will only be on duty at weekends until June 23, and will finish on September 5, according to the PSOE. In addition they will only start work at midday and finish at 8pm.
