A man convicted of killing a 16-month-old baby girl in Fiñana in December 2012 is facing trial again this week in Almería accused of raping the child’s mother.
Jonathan Moya, aged 28, is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for abducting and murdering baby Miriam, whose body was found in a reservoir.
The case shocked the entire country after it was revealed Moya had repeatedly beaten the baby around the head before suffocating her with cling-film and dumping her body in the water in a bag weighted with rocks.
Moya has denied the rape charge in court this week, however, saying “I wasn’t up for it, we weren’t having sex”.
