A young dolphin found stranded on a beach near Almerimar last weekend died hours after a woman was spotted manhandling it to take a selfie, according to marine rescue group Equinac.
A group of youths who were on the beach called the 112 emergency services after spotting the woman with the dolphin taking ‘selfies’, leaving it in a distressed state.
Equinac volunteers attended the scene and took the mammal to a special pool erected in the area. But although they worked throughout Sunday night they were unable to save its life.
