A 16-year-old girl who was forced into prostitution at a club in Almería city has been rescued by police.
Five people, including a Spanish woman who owns three nightclubs, have been arrested and charged with a string of sexual abuse offences, including human trafficking, in addition to belonging to a criminal gang.
The victim, who alerted the police, was coerced into having sex after she was threatened with losing her job as a waitress at another bar, which was owned by one of the alleged gang members.
A judge has imposed reporting restrictions, but a National Police source told this reporter that “a well known person in Almería society, although not a politician” was also taken into custody.
