A pet shop in Barcelona has been closed by police and fined over €3,000 for animal abuse after vets discovered cases of malnourishment, along with infections and contagious diseases, amongst animals on display for sale. Some 68 puppies and 15 kittens were rescued during the operation. Investigators said sales of animals were not registered and unwell animals had been purchased from the owners.
