Controversy has been sparked once again by the high numbers of people ‘reserving’ the best spots on beaches next to the sea – then disappearing for hours on end.
In some towns they set out at dawn to place their towels, chairs and umbrellas in sought-after positions before heading home for breakfast.
Benidorm and Torrevieja are just two of the local authorities on the Costa Blanca which field regular complaints over the practice.
