More than 100 fines were issued to dog owners in coastal areas over the Easter holidays by Elche local police for a variety of transgressions.
A spokesman for city hall explained that their urban and environment unit (UMA) had been ordered to ‘pay special attention to the presence of dogs on the coast’.
Only 10 of the fines were issued for walking or having dogs on the beaches.
