Spain will not impose self-isolation on British tourists from today (Sunday, June 21) despite the fact that the UK has not lifted a similar rule for those arriving in Britain.
Foreign Affairs Minister Arancha González Laya confirmed, in a BBC interview yesterday (Saturday), that Spain would not ‘reciprocate’ and will allow Britons to come to Spain without restrictions along with citizens of EU and Schengen zone countries.
Until yesterday Spain had cast doubts over the application of the freedom of arrival to UK nationals because of British self-isolation rules that will not be reviewed until June 28.
Effectively Britons can come to Spain from today (June 21) and will only be subject to temperatures checks upon arrival at airports.
