THE alleged murderer of Irish gangster Gary Hutch, who was gunned down in Mijas in 2015, could face life in prison with the possibility of parole. It is the first gangland case in Málaga province where the life sentence, known in Spanish as ‘prisión permanente revisable’, has been sought since its use was approved in March 2015.

The public prosecutor is seeking the sentence against Hutch’s alleged killer, Irishman James Q., on the basis that he carried out the murder as a member of a criminal organisation, one of the circumstances stipulated in the eligibility requirements for application of the life sentence.
