An Almería couple have been arrested in connection with an identity fraud scam to obtain dole money and loans.
An investigation was launched in June when police detected that the woman had been using two different identities. It later emerged that she had been arrested 10 years ago in connection with immigration law offences.
The woman, a Brazilian national, used her real identity to marry a Spanish businessman with the aim of obtaining a residency permit.
While using her false ID she registered on the padrón in Mojacar and was able to get a job working in hotels and restaurants before going on the dole.
