Nerja is planning to reopen the western end of the Paseo de los Carabineros to pedestrians. The walkway along the coast from the town centre to Burriana beach was ordered to be closed 15 years ago following rock falls from the overhanging cliffs. Preparatory work is under way on the stretch from playa Carabeillo to the Balcón de Europa.
