Mojacar mayor Rosa María Cano has ordered her lawyers to withdraw from a pending court case that would have tested her town’s controversial anti-noise by-law in court.
The decision to withdraw from the court case means the council is liable for costs, understood to be €200 apiece, as well as returning the fines plus accumulated interest.
The case dates from July 2015 when eight women who were holiday in Mojacar were fined €601 each for being too noisy inside their rented apartment.
