Almería’s second penal court has found Pedro Llamas guilty of breaching contracting guidelines during his tenure as mayor of Cantoria.
The two offences he is guilty of took place during a revision of the town’s urban plan between 2007 and 2010. He has been sentenced to nine years disqualification from holding or seeking public office.
However, he was cleared on 11 counts of awarding illegal tenders, eight due to lack of evidence and three because the judge found no evidence of wrong-doing.
The sentence issued this week ruled: “The accused dictated not one but several administrative resolutions that were contrary to common law and knowing full well they were arbitrary and unjust.”
