A residents’ association in Vera lodged a barrage of complaints at the council last week for allegedly failing to maintain the town’s beaches, saying the water was “contaminated” and beach services “deficient”.
In a meeting held between Vera council and residents association Veraplayazul earlier this month, mayor Felix López accused the association of distorting the truth, while the association said the mayor “hears but does not respond”.
To make its point, Veraplayazul produced pictures showing a brown looking sea, due it claimed to raw sewage being discharged into it.
