AN ONLINE fundraising drive launched by The Butterfly Children Charity (DEBRA) to raise money for repairs to its Málaga store, which was gutted by a fire last month, has already raised almost €1,700, with a further €700 raised through private donations in recent weeks.
Since it went live on April 20 the fundraising page, which can be found by searching for Renacer de las Cenizas on charity donation site www.migranodearena.org, has received 54 donations totalling €1,674.67, which is 31% of the charity’s target of €5,400.
Kirsty Dixon from The Butterfly Children’s communications team said that the money raised so far has made possible the start of work on repairs to the store’s flooring, which needs to be relevelled and isn’t covered by either of the store’s insurance policies. She added that “every amount helps and is important, big or small”.
The Butterfly Children Charity raises money and awareness for people with the painful genetic skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which causes the skin and internal body linings such as the mouth to blister at the slightest knock or rub.
