Homeowners in the Balearic Islands who failed to register upgrades which increased the value of their properties have been caught out by an eye in the sky. The authorities have been using aerial photography to spot undeclared extensions and swimming pools upon which a local property tax, the IBI, is payable. So far, over 21,600 offenders have been spotted, including 2,382 secret swimming pools.
