The announcement of 200 new seaside parking spaces in Mojacar last week has done little to allay fears about summer parking problems, after it was revealed the majority of the spaces are for private hotel use and the rest are located at least half a kilometre from the beach.
The building of Mojacar’s new promenade along the beach front opposite the Pueblo Indalo hotel has left one of the town’s most popular beaches without parking.
Mojacar council said it has been holding meetings with the hotel’s management for several months to resolve the lack of parking in front of the hotel and has now created 200 new spaces.
However, out of the new spaces now “available to Mojacar visitors”, 130 are within the Pueblo Indalo grounds for the use of its guests only.
