The Partido Popular, now in opposition in Nerja town hall, has called for a full council meeting to discuss the future of the town’s Playazo beach. The four-party coalition under socialist mayor Rosa Arabal has decided to delay an Environment Ministry project to develop the coastal area on the town’s western border with Torrox.
Former PP mayor and provincial deputy, José Alberto Armijo, said last week that the planned extension of the Paseo Marítimo along Playazo is “an opportunity not to be missed” and recalled that the ministry has planned an investment of almost 8.7 million euros. The first phase of the project, creating a 350-metre-long walkway, has a budget of 845,000 euros.
Sr Armijo called on the mayor and the coalition members to take the action required to give the project “viability,” given that it has received favourable technical and legal reports.
